Dex is a London-based designer, creative director, and illustrator with more years of experience in print, web, and film than he’d care to admit. His work is defined by a distinct handcrafted typographic style, creating thoughtful, conceptual Limited Edition prints often inspired by literature, music, and film.
He is perhaps best known for his highly creative typographic maps, which have been featured in numerous publications, art books, and exhibited widely across London, including at The Other Art Fair and the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.
Each map represents a deep dive into London's cultural identity, celebrating the city’s status as one of the world’s most cinematic and creative hubs. From its legendary literary heritage to its rich musical legacy, these maps showcase iconic novels, films, and musicians, all meticulously plotted in their most famous locations. Every piece is a true labour of love, often taking up to a year to complete.
More recently, Dex has been experimenting with stencils and spray paint to create atmospheric pieces inspired by some of his favourite music artists.
His work has been featured a lot in the press, including Time Out, The Independent, and The Evening Standard.
Dex also works under the pseudonym Christopher Trotman as the co-founder and Creative Director of Run For The Hills, a multi-disciplinary, award-winning design studio specializing in art, branding, and interiors.
